On May 14, 2026, the OIG (Office of Inspector General) released the findings of its recent IRF audit. The report details why the OIG performed the IRF audit, how the audit was handled, what the OIG found, and what the OIG recommends. It indicated that unclear Medicare requirements led to differing interpretations of IRF documentation, coverage, and billing requirements. Click here to access the full report and report highlights.
