Buffalo City Highlights bus tour and dinner on the waterfront!

This year, the Thursday Evening Social Event features a tour of many of Buffalo’s unique locations and historic buildings.

Buses will depart the Sheraton at the Falls at approximately 4:45 p.m. Following the 75-minute narrated tour, the bus will head to Acqua Restaurant at approximately 6:30 p.m. for cocktails and dinner along the waterfront. Buses will board at approximately 9:00 p.m. to return to the Sheraton at the Falls.

The bus tour will feature:

  • The newly restored Darwin Martin House, which received National Historic Landmark status in 1986 and is considered one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s finest achievements of the Prairie period.
  • The historic Buffalo Zoo, the third-oldest zoo in the United States
  • The Frederick Law Olmsted neighborhood and 350-acre Delaware Park, one of six major parks in the heart of Buffalo. Olmsted is considered the father of American landscape architecture and is best known for designing Central Park in Manhattan.
  • Olmsted-designed parkways and traffic circles
  • The Albright Knox Art Gallery, one of the top contemporary galleries in the world
  • Mirror Lake, featuring reflective views of historic buildings
  • The Greek-style Buffalo and Erie County Historical Building, the only remaining building from the Pan-American Exposition of 1901
  • “Mansion Row” on Delaware Avenue, homes for the rich and famous and listed as a National Historic District
  • The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, where President Roosevelt took the oath of office upon President McKinley’s death
  • Lake Erie, Buffalo Harbor, and the downtown Buffalo skyline
  • The Erie Basin Marina, whose docks are home to over 350 pleasure boats
  • The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor: The 363-mile Erie Canal was dug by hand to connect the Hudson River with the Niagara River.
  • Buffalo Naval and Military Park, featuring three WWII warships—USS Little Rock, USS Croaker, and USS The Sullivans. This is the largest inland park of its kind in the nation.
  • Coca-Cola Field, home of the Buffalo Bisons AAA baseball team, the affiliate of the New York Mets
  • Architectural sites, including those by Louis Sullivan, Richard Upjohn, H.H. Richardson, and more!
